Movember

While there are a few guys growing mo's at work, hardly any seem to be fundraising for the cause. (yay for those who are!!!) November isn't a month to just grow a moustache — it's to fundraiser and bring attention to the nasty known as prostate cancer.

Lexi is a Mo Sista, and had a fundraising party last night and made it so we could all take part in the Mo movement.

Yes - Sara & Brad are wearing the same stache in the last two pics!

And for a little extra humour re Movember, check out this video on YouTube:

Capital Festival

Just a stone's throw from my house is St Anne's Academy. It used to be a girls school run by nuns who also resided there, but these days it's government offices as well as a chapel that hosts many weddings.

Today it was Capital Festival which had live music, a beer garden and glorious sunshine!

BC Day fun times

The sun appeared, my friends were near, music played and fireworks capped it all off. Happy BC Day, y'all!

Bliss

Summer afternoons spent outside anywhere are great. But some real special ones are the days I get to relax in the oasis my parents have created in their yard. Already, their garden is full of colour and life. The veggie garden is almost full of seedlings, and it looks like it will be a bumper crop of apples this year - a huge win as they harvested 3 apples last year!

Some of my favourite flowers are in bloom right now. I love how large and delicate peonies are. They come in so many colours and appear to be handcrafted out of the lightest-weight tissue paper available. Irises are very special to me. My grandma always had her back garden full of irises, especially the blue one, so these are very sentimental for me.

fresh bark mulch makes the pathways "pop"

the blueberry patch is new this year - can't wait for fruit!

the herb garden kinda hides a compost site

I spy a tomato/basil bed!
